Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches announces $2 million donation to Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida – The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches today announced a $2 million donation to the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Raso Education Center at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Fla., with Executive Director Todd Fleming, Cognizant Chief Marketing Officer Guarav Chand, Children’s Healthcare Charity VP and Grants Chair Michele Jacobs, and Jack and Barbara Nicklaus in attendance.
“Today’s announcement furthers the commitment to community that the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches has been known for, and we are excited to continue building on that tradition of giving back for years to come,” said Fleming. “As we look to this new era of PGA TOUR golf in Palm Beach County, our goal will be to identify areas in which we can be impactful with our dollars, ensuring everyone who attends and follows our tournament feels a sense of pride and ownership in it.
The announcement marks the first charitable contribution since the tournament was re-branded as the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, with more expected to come in 2024. Monday’s donation brings the event’s all-time charitable contributions to over $70 million, including more than $55 million in the 18 years since Children’s Healthcare Charity, Inc., became the official beneficiary.
“On behalf of Children’s Healthcare Charity, we are honored to accept this wonderful gift from the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches,” said Jacobs. “There is no greater need in any community than the prevention of childhood diseases and disorders, as well as ensuring pediatric health care and health-related services are a top priority for all constituents. Today’s announcement is a tremendous example of how sports can play a role in that core mission.”
